Best of Orange County: Unique Picks for Valentine's Day Dining

This is a sample Valentines Day season is almost here, which means hearts, cheesy cards, and lots and lots of candy filling grocery store shelves near you. But Valentines Day doesn’t have to be cheesy this year. Southern California offers lots of California activities and destinations to make your Valentine's day special, memorable, and unique!

Have a romantic spa day or private boat charter date planned, but need some dinner recommendations? We’ve put together a list of some of the most romantic restaurants in and around Orange County, as well as unique options you won't find anywhere else.

Located in the Belmont Short Long Beach and Naples Island area, Nico’s is nestled in the heart of 2nd street, one of the best places to find things to do in Long Beach. Spend the day at the Aquarium of the Pacific, then end the day at Nico’s!

Offering everything from crab cakes with arugula and avocado cream, to sea bass, classic pork chop, and the best drinks in town, Nico’s has a slew of intricately cooked and well-thought-out meals to make the evening thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile. Make sure to make a reservation in order to be seated promptly and avoid seasonal crowds!

Looking for a Italian food option? Cucina Alessa just might be a good fit for you. With accommodating service, the delicious appetizer bread with pesto, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese, this location is the place to be for a satisfying and mouth-watering meal. Everything is made from scratch and offers one of the best Italian food experiences Orange County!

You may need to park in surrounding neighborhoods and the streets, which gives you a great excuse to walk around and enjoy the local business and quaint beachfront homes of California before heading home.

If you're spending the day further inland, then Roman Cucina in Fullerton might be a better option for you. One of our favorite locations for delicious Italian cuisine, Roman Cucina offers friendly service, weekly specials, a fairly priced menu, and the most delectable dishes around town. Try the Pasta Gianni-a seafood pasta, the shrimp fettuccine, or the classic spaghetti and meatballs! Watch our for that starter bread as well-it is addicting!

Though Fullerton can be easily overlooked in favor of well known Southern California beach towns like Newport Beach and San Clemente, this neighborhood is still a fun and entertaining place to spend the day shopping and walking downtown before settling in for date night.

AnQi Gourmet Bistro

With a little Asian flare, AnQi is the perfect laid back, yet classy environment for Valentines Day. Located just outside South Coast Plaza’s Bloomingdales, you and your date can browse the spotless shelves before heading to dinner. Try the Pan Roasted Lobster on their famous Garlic Noodles, Kimchi Fried Rice, or Tombo Tuna Tacos along with one of their many mixed drink options. AnQi is a pricey option for everyday, but for special occasions, this might just be the place for you!

Looking for a restaurant that will offer a romantic brunch? The Dock offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is a fan favorite in Newport Beach. If you are lucky, you’ll get seated at a waterfront table, but either way, The Dock has the most beautiful views of Newport Beach and is a must-visit on your ‘things to do in Orange County’ bucket list. With a small and intimate setting, stunning views, and an array of brunch menu options, The Dock is our number one for a Valentine’s Day brunch!

Last but certainly not least, we had to include The Blind Rabbit . If you're looking for something unusual, a little quirky, and definitely memorable, check this place out! This fun and unique location one of our favorite options if you are looking for an intimate and casual lunch or dinner.

Hidden on the lower levels of the Packing District, The Blind Rabbit is a small restaurant/bar with a speakeasy feel. Some must-tries on the menu are the duck mac and cheese, poutine, and lamb chops. For drinks, try the Hole in the Floor (their version of a Moscow Mule), or Drunken Nights in Thailand (a drink in a bag)!

Also beware of the 90 minute time limit you will have to dine at The Blind Rabbit and the required reservation due to limited space!
